Engineering Futures
Inspiring the engineers of the future
Launched in October 2022 to celebrate our 5th year as a Museum, our Engineering Futures Appeal has raised an amazing £240,000 in support of our award-winning learning programme. It is only with thanks to our incredibly generous donors, funders and supporters, we have been able to:
Award travel bursaries to over 30 local schools, reducing the financial barriers so more children can take part in our varied programme of fun, educational workshops, designed to spark students’ interest in investigative science and support their learning back at school
Welcome over 17,000 school pupils of all ages, taking them on an exciting journey through time to discover the fascinating role that Bristol played in the history of aviation and inspiring them with stories of the remarkable people who made this possible
Replace and upgrade our learning equipment and resources, buying everything from ipads and laptops to chairs, robots and rockets!
Develop workshop packages for home education groups
Increase the ways we are able to support SEND pupils by adapting workshops for groups and students when their specific needs require it, for example adapted materials for visually impaired students or personalised sessions for special educational needs groups
Welcome a new member of the team, doubling our capacity for workshops and increasing our ability to offer weekend sessions to meet growing demand
Support undergraduate volunteers in the Conservation workshop over the past two years to gain valuable work experience and skills
Hold twelve skills workshops for older people from the local community of Patchway and Charlton Hayes looking to try new things
Launch a free, weekly story time session for pre-school children, providing a fantastic opportunity for early years to engage with the museum through stories about Planes, Transport & Space in a warm and welcoming space
Your amazing support has helped us to develop lots of resources, grow our team and increase our profile so more schools, families and groups choose Aerospace Bristol to educate young people today, inspiring the engineers of the future. But, we know we can do so much more!
What’s next?
Further donations would mean we could:
Increase our ability to host whole year groups from secondary groups in response to growing demand
Increase the work we are able to do with local community groups, for example teaching people how to use our archive so they can research their own stories
Offer free or discounted tickets to schools from deprived areas, removing the biggest barrier to participation so everyone can enjoy our fun and engaging STEM lessons
We need you!
Aerospace museum has learning at its heart. Our interactive exhibitions encourage young people to engage with and be inspired by the engineering achievements of Bristol.
